He worked in Lahore Electrical Supply Company for about 26 years before partition and after partition he worked in Central Water and Power Commission, presently know as Central Electricity Authority.

He foresaw the need of an organised setup in the field of Repairing / Rewinding of Electric Motors and Alternators and established H.S.Balbir & Bros . at Delhi in 1948.
